Since the beginning of time there have been religions and they have been constantly changing. Each region of the world believes something different. The sun is at the center of most religions. Having a sun god or sun goddess is normal for most of them.
It doesn't matter if they have a sun god or sun goddess in their religion, at the core it is all the same. We are warmed by the warmth of the sun. It makes light so that we can see. Plant life thrives on our planet because of the sun. It keeps us alive.
Those who are thankful to the sun believe that they should be because it provides for them. They feel that they should be thankful to what gives life and nurtures it. They often times will worship the sun or create a sun god or sun goddess to represent it.
In some cultures the sun god or sun goddess stands for fertility. The sun is held at the helm of birth and replenishing the earth with new life. Some couples will pray to have a fertility idol or sun goddess present when they are trying to conceive a child.
Some people thought that a sun god and sun goddess may have rode the skies in chariots. They thought that some gods were responsible for the suns movement and even the weather.
Many forms have been given to both the sun god and sun goddess. Owls and lions are among those. They have been depicted as humans and even giants.
The sun god and the sun goddess have been known under many names. In Greece the sun god was called Apollo. It was thought that he flew threw the sky in a chariot. The Greeks thought that he was responsible for the sun moving around the earth.
The Norse had both a sun god and sun goddess. They called their male sun idol Freyr and they believed he rode a boar. It was said that he had a ship he used to sail across the world. When his ship was not in use, he could fold it up and put it in his pocket. Sol was the name of their sun goddess and she rode the skies in a chariot similar to the Greeks Apollo.
Some of these things sound a little far fetched but, even modern day stories of Jesus to some seem a little far fetched. Some just cannot believe in walking on water and making wine without grapes
Whether you believe in a sun god or sun goddess or the Son of God is your choice. It is your right to make that choice. No one will ever know for sure which are right or wrong. These things began when man needed an answer for why he was on this planet and why there was a sun and a sky. Always do what feels right to you. If you choose to worship a sun god or a sun goddess is up to you.
